Karate

Kerry Michael Li is an 8th Degree Black Belt and a World Karate Grand Champion. He has over 50 consecutive years of Martial Arts experience, has won over 1,000 martial arts awards and holds internationally recognized degrees in Japanese Shotokan karate, Chinese Ka-Ju Kenpo and classical Okinawan Kobudo weaponry. While winning several National and World Black Belt titles, he owned and operated one of the most successful dojos in history in Santa Fe, New Mexico, from 1983 to 2000. He has an American flag that was flown over the White House in honor of his achievements and is listed in the Congressional Record of the United States as a Karate World Grand Champion and has received commendations from 3 State Governors. He is also the karate instructor for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in their 2023 film Mutant Mayhem.

Writer

Kerry is an award-winning writer, recipient of the University of New Mexico's Humanities Award for Excellence in dramatic writing, where he also won a Presidential Scholarship. Kerry has completed over 30 Film and TV scripts and 6 novels. He has written for World of Martial Arts, Elite Fighter, Action Pursuit Games, World of Firepower and Fit & Famous magazines. He was the Editor for Ultimate MMA and Home Defender magazines. His film and TV projects have been successfully pitched to Circle of Confusion, DreamWorks, CBS, Disney, Viacom, MarVista, Beacon Pictures, Lionsgate, Netflix, Paramount, Spyglass, Sony Pictures, Cinemax, Nickelodeon and Entertainment 360, among others. His latest novel, Full Force, was a #1 Bestseller on Amazon.

Film

Before appearing in 2023’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem as himself, Kerry spent several years partnered with a writer/director at Warner Bros., developing projects that Kerry wrote, which then turned into the start of a film company in 1999. He was Vice President of Production on a dozen feature films, including My Big Fat Greek Wedding, The Man From Elysian Fields, Double Whammy, The Badge, Strange Hearts, Wishcraft, Dawg and Poolhall Junkies and was lead Producer on Rolling Kansas, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. As a film executive, Kerry helped oversee $50M of film production that has grossed over $400M worldwide. He has also lectured about film-making at UCLA. Currently in 2025, he has over 20 projects in development, both scripted and unscripted.
